Ribbed expanded metal is a render base. Ribbed expanded metal can be used to bridge non-load-bearing or different wall surfaces. Ribbed expanded metal is fixed (usually nailed) to the load-bearing substrate before rendering. The back of the ribs must face the substrate. The ribs act as spacers.
