Why do cracks appear in joints and corners in the first place? Not only in timber frame construction, but especially here, there are always cracks in joints and corners. The cracks mostly appear in the corners on the walls, in the jamb area on the top floor or in the transition between wall and ceiling.

The main causes of this are shrinkage (drying) of the wood or settlements and other movements with the buildings. Both can barely be prevented, but with the help of our profiles the cracks and their visual effects can be stopped.
